The Dutch Government have given notice that it intends to increase the rate of VAT for many supplies.

This will be achieved by making the supplies subject to the 21% standard rate of Dutch VAT versus the current 6% reduced rate that they enjoy.

If these changes went ahead then we understand only supplies of basic foodstuffs would remain subject to the reduced rate.  This would mean that supplies including hotel accommodation, entrance to sporting/cultural/entertainment events and restaurants would all see their rate of VAT increased.

We will provide further updates on this as it becomes available.
