In 2015 Italy set out a new Stability Law that provided for VAT rate increases on 1 January 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively – more details can be found here.

However, it was noted that these changes would only take place if certain budgetary targets were not met.

As a new year rolls around, it has been confirmed that the standard rate of VAT in Italy will remain at 22%.  No future changes are now envisaged to this rate until at least 1 January 2018 at the earliest.
