On 13th February 2019, the Italian Ministry of Finance announced that the deadlines for submitting the first Esterometro and last “so-called” Spesometro returns have been postponed from 28th February 2019 to 30th April 2019.
The reason for the delay is help Italian businesses better comply with their tax obligations in light of competing deadlines and having to get acquainted with the new electronic invoicing regime.
Launch of the Esterometro
This new monthly reporting requirement for Italian VAT established businesses is a record of invoice information about the sales of goods and services provided to or received from parties not established in Italy.
End of the Spesometro
From 1st January 2019, the requirement to file VAT Invoice Data Reports, which had replaced the Spesometro from 1st January 2017, is abolished. This final submission relates to reporting transactions carried out in the second half of 2018.
A presidential decree ratifying the above is expected to be published in due course.
