The Irish Ministry of Finance have released their Finance Bill for 2019. Within the bill, they confirm their intention to increase the VAT rate on food supplements.

From January 2020, the VAT rate for food supplement products will increase; this will be from the current rate of 0% to the reduced rate of 13.5%. This impacts certain vitamin, mineral and fish oil products that previously qualified for the 0% concessionary rate.

If you currently sell food supplements which may fall within these headline products, please contact one of our VAT experts for further information and help.
