JACK OAKLEY

BORN & BRED IN: LONDON

FAVOURITE PLACE: BURANO

“I am a British Citizen and I am proud to be and remain European.

Working in European trade and VAT, alongside so many amazing colleagues from all over the world has allowed me to live and breathe Europe. It’s diversity in culture, language and food has helped so much to grow up with a bigger perspective than just my own.”

CHRISTOPHER HAIGH

BORN & BRED IN: FRANKFURT

FAVOURITE PLACE: BRIGHTON

“As a European the immigration to the UK was easy without any obstacles. This gave me the opportunity to live in a new country and expand my horizons.

Since I moved to the UK I have always felt welcome. Whatever will happen after Brexit, I am more than confident that I will not feel less welcome and that we may take even more care of each other.”

MARIANA LAGES GOMES

BORN & BRED IN: PORTO

FAVOURITE PLACE: FLORENCE

“Being part of the EU, makes possible to travel freely, means living in another country knowing my rights.Feeling at home in England, going to visit my Portuguese friend in Madrid for the weekend, drinking French wine and having Italian cheese. It means to be freely connected, no roaming, no frontiers, no limits, closer to the ones we love.”

BEN LEFTLEY

BORN & BRED IN: OXFORD

FAVOURITE PLACE: BUDAPEST

“Having been lucky enough to travel to nearly half of the EU countries and still feel at home, it doesn’t feel real that the UK is taking a step backwards, from a union of cultures which have enriched our society in many ways. I’ll always make people feel at home here as they have done for me in Europe.”

SONIA GARCÍA ÁLVAREZ

BORN & BRED IN: LEÓN

FAVOURITE PLACE: BARCELONA

“For me being part of Europe means togetherness, regardless of all the differences between each country, from North down to South, East to West, we are joined together by common goals and ideologies. Also, being able to go back to Spain and visit my friends and family with no hassle and no extra questions is what I really value. It’s already hard enough to live thousands of kilometres away from your family and friends. I’m also married to a British citizen so Brexit goes against ALL my ideologies and way of living!”

ALYSSA BOSSOM

BORN & BRED IN: HASTINGS

FAVOURITE PLACE: PORTOMARÍN

“The EU’s Erasmus+ exchange programme gave me the opportunity to live abroad, experience a new culture, learn Spanish and meet fantastic new people. The experience was invaluable – I caught the travel bug and have been exploring the EU ever since.”

KEITH CLARKE

BORN & BRED IN: CHERTSEY

FAVOURITE PLACE: BRUGES

“I would say I was born European. We took family holidays in Europe from a young age and always felt part of Europe.

I feel deeply upset about Brexit and not primarily for any business / commercial reasons, but because I’ve always identified as European. I feel like my identity is being changed without my agreement! Also it was triggered for all the wrong reasons – hijacked by a group of people who deceived the public into placing blame where it doesn’t belong.

We have so many European colleagues – we are a beacon of European harmony”

LUCA CLIVATI

BORN & BRED IN: MILAN

FAVOURITE PLACE: SANTORINI

“I am a European person whom has seen the benefit of having no borders between EU Member States and no need of VISA to study or travel abroad.I used to travel with only my old paper identity card everywhere in the EU, from Portugal to Latvia!

The first flights I ever bought cost less than the cost of a pizza (and sometimes of a coffee) when Ryanair and easyJet started flights to and from Italy.

The UK is the country that I have chosen to raise my daughter in because I want her to grow up in an international environment that’s multicultural like her mother and I.”

MONICA LLUSSA

BORN & BRED IN: REUS

FAVOURITE PLACE: REUS

“For me Europe means home, free movement across the countries, languages that diversify and unify us all at the same time.

Lots of different cultures which I am proud of, weather and food.”

CHRIS BLAKER

BORN & BRED IN: BRIGHTON

FAVOURITE PLACE: AMSTERDAM

“Living in Brighton, with its super easy links by boat, air and train. I love to travel around Europe in my spare time,

At the moment I can travel off the beaten track in places like Croatia and Romania and not even have to worry about my phone bill.

I hope despite Brexit, the UK finds some way of staying in harmony with Europe. Especially in regards to the free movement of people.”
