As the VAT landscape across Europe continues to grow in complexity our compliance team is also expanding, and we have several exciting opportunities to join our in-house Compliance Team. The Accordance approach to Compliance delivery combines the advantages of an efficient, well established processing capability alongside comprehensive international VAT knowledge. We pride ourselves on our international expertise and our desire to ensure our client’s needs are at the heart of everything we do. Our in-house Consulting Team work very closely with our Compliance Team to support the delivery of our services, assist with internal training and facilitate the sharing of knowledge between the two teams. Many of our consultants have trained within a Big 4 firm before transitioning to a holistic role to help shape and support our growth. Accordance is based in Brighton: a vibrant, cosmopolitan seaside town in the south-east of England, less than an hour from London. We offer an attractive, centrally located working environment.
Our Compliance Team is a diverse, multi-cultural, fast-paced and dynamic team. We are looking for ambitious candidates, who take pride in the work they do and who are looking for an environment to develop and grow in. We have two roles currently available in our team, both require candidates who have direct experience of dealing with tax authorities, ability to work under pressure in a calm and methodical way, and who see themselves as a strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
1. Senior Compliance Manager
The Senior Compliance Manager role involves managing one of our sub-teams (6-10 people) within compliance, responsibilities include:
- Managing day to day performance of the team as well as individuals,
- Mentoring and developing others,
- Delivering excellent client-focused service in line with internal guidelines & ensuring team does the same
- Ensuring the team is following internal risk management processes
- Submitting VAT Returns and providing Compliance Account Management for key accounts
- Reviewing and recommending changes relating to processes and training needs
The successful applicant will have over 3 years’ experience of working in VAT (either in-house or in professional services roles), and ideally have experience of managing people. We are especially interested in candidate who have developed expertise in the E-commerce industry and/or submitting Intrastat declarations in multiple jurisdictions.
2. Compliance Manager
The Compliance Manager role involves submitting complex VAT returns for our largest clients. Responsibilities include:
- Submitting declarations i.e. VAT returns, EC Sales, Intrastat as required
- Maintaining and developing relationships with agents & tax authorities
- Peer review to ensure accuracy and consistency of returns and declarations submitted
- Providing Account Management services for key clients
- Researching and confirming legislative changes.
The successful applicant will have 2 years’ plus experience of working in VAT (either in-house or in professional services roles). They will possess the ability to consider risks involved when submitting VAT declarations and can apply sound judgement and logic. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience of VAT compliance in Italy or Spain.
Both roles require the ability to work in English at a proficient level and fluency in another major European language would be advantageous but is not essential.
